Amrapali


This is an old, hybrid variety of mango hailing from Malihabad. It is reddish in appearance, and its pulp has a distinct orange colour. You can lay your hands on this variety during the mid-mango season.

Imam Pasand


Imam Pasand is also known as Himayat or Himayuddin mango. It is exclusively grown in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. It has a distinct aroma and has an incredibly rich after-taste.

Rumani

In the late mango season, you’ll find the sumptuous Rumani mangoes. They are bright yellow and have a spherical shape. Rumani mangoes are known for their unique flavour.

It is a medium-sized mango variety that is greenish-yellow in appearance and has a very pleasant aroma. You can find it in the markets in July.

GulaabKhaas


This special variety of mango has a rosy appearance just as the name suggests. It is reddish-green in colour and has a unique aroma. It is a mid-season variety and tastes best in the form of desserts.

Ratol

Ratol or Anwar Ratol is a very sweet variety of mango named after Anwar-ul-Haq, the man who cultivated it in the village of Ratol in Uttar Pradesh. This variety is found during June-July. Ratol mangoes are not too yellow and are fibreless from inside.

 

Pairi

Pairi is a fibrous and juicy variety of mango found during the early season. This variety is perfect for making aamras, a popular beverage in the western states of India.

 

GirKesar

GirKesar is abundant in Gujarat. This variety is known for its bright orange pulp and sweetness. GirKesar gets to market mostly in April and is among the most expensive varieties of mangoes.

 

Kalapadi

Another sweet mango variety from Andhra Pradesh, Kalapadi, has a deep yellow pulp. It is one of the sweetest variety of mangoes found in India.

 

Lakshmanbhog

This mango variety is a favourite in West Bengal. It is an ideal alternative for Alphonso. The pulp has a rich taste and delicious aroma.

 

Manohar

This variety is grown in Punjab and has a complex flavour. Manohar is a hybrid variety grown from the seedlings of Chaunsa.

 

Chok Anan

Chok Anan is found widely in India, Thailand, Bangladesh and Pakistan. It is also known as ‘honey mango’ owing to its sweetness. It blossoms twice a year, once in summer and then in winter.

 

Jahangir

Jahangir has an attractive colour and diverse taste. Unripe Jahangir mangoes also have a distinctly sweet taste, unlike the other varieties. You can find these mangoes in Andhra Pradesh during the mango season.

 

AlampurBaneshan

It also goes by the name of Baneshan. It is mostly green even after ripening and has a slightly tart flavour with accents of cinnamon, jackfruit and pepper.

 

Badami

Badami mangoes are also known as the Alphonso of Karnataka. They taste quite similar to Alphonso and are perfect for preparing mango desserts.

 

KishenBhog

This juicy and sweet variety comes from West Bengal. It is round in shape and has a greenish-yellow appearance. Its pulp is rich in fibre and it becomes available during the mid-mango season.

 

Lalbaug

This breed of mango grows in and around Bangalore and shares its name with famous Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. It has a reddish-yellow appearance and tastes heavenly.

 

Husnara

It is a fragrant and delicious mango variety from Lucknow. This luscious variety can be found during the mid-mango season.

 

Chaunsa

It is one of the sweetest varieties of mangoes from northern India. The best produce of this variety is found in Pakistan. It has a golden yellow colour with a reddish blush.

 

Zardalu

Zardalu mangoes belong to Bhagalpur in Bihar. They are small and extremely sweet. They are also effective in providing relief from respiratory problems, fever and constipation.
