Foxtail Bread

A soft, mildly sweet bread made with foxtail millet flour and maida, ideal for everyday slicing.

Cooking Steps

Foxtail Bread

Step 1 :

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, and a little oil. Mix and keep aside for 2 minutes.

Step 2 :

Add foxtail millet flour, maida, milk, and egg. Mix to form a smooth dough.

Step 3 :

Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.

Step 4 :

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1½ hours).

Step 5 :

Preheat the oven to 190°C.

Step 6 :

Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a floured surface.

Step 7 :

Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.

Step 8 :

Bake at 190°C for 15–20 minutes or until golden on top.

Step 9 :

Remove from the pan, allow to cool, slice, and pack.
