A wholesome, comforting upma made with pearl millet rawa, vegetables, and simple South Indian tempering—perfect for a nourishing everyday meal.

Pearl Millet Upma

Step 1 :

Roast the pearl millet rawa on medium flame until it turns light brown and aromatic. Keep aside.

Step 2 :

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Step 3 :

Add black gram dal and chana dal; sauté until lightly golden.

Step 4 :

Add curry leaves, chopped onions, and green chillies. Sauté till onions turn soft.

Step 5 :

Add carrots, beans, and potatoes. Sauté for 2–3 minutes.

Step 6 :

Add water and salt, bring to a boil.

Step 7 :

Slowly add the roasted pearl millet rawa, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

Step 8 :

Cook on a low flame until the rawa becomes soft and absorbs all the water. Serve hot.
