A creamy North Indian curry that beautifully combines fresh fenugreek leaves, green peas, and rich spices.

Cooking Steps

Methi Malai Matar

Step 1 :

Take a large frying pan and pour 3 tsp oil. Bring it to heat on a high flame.

Step 2 :

Reduce the flame to low and toss in cardamom, cinnamon and onion. Fry gently.

Step 3 :

Once the onion turns colour, add ginger, garlic and green chilli.

Step 4 :

Lastly, add cashews to this mix and fry for a few minutes. Set it aside to cool.

Step 5 :

Once it cools, grind it to fine paste. You can add a little water to help the process.

Step 6 :

In the same frying pan, add the remaining oil and heat it on medium flame.

Step 7 :

Pour in the paste and start stirring. Don’t allow the mixture to burn and stick to the pan.

Step 8 :

Stir till the mixture starts holding shape and you see oil releasing from it.

Step 9 :

Toss in the chopped methi and fry for a few minutes.

Step 10 :

Next sprinkle salt and give it a mix.

Step 11 :

Add green peas, half the milk and a little water to the mixture and continue stirring on a medium flame.

Step 12 :

Cover and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes.

Step 13 :

Lastly, pour the remaining milk.

Step 14 :

Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
