Step 1 :

Soak the rice for an hour to get the best version and then cook it in water with a pinch of salt until medium done.

Step 2 :

Drain the rice and spread it on a plain surface to dry.

Step 3 :

Cut the veggies in julienne and wash. Grind sugar into fine powder or use store-bought.

Step 4 :

Soak the poppy seeds in 1/4th cup water for 10 minutes and make a fine paste.

Step 5 :

Heat a kadhai on medium flame, add ghee or oil then add cardamom, clove and cinnamon when it's spluttering add the veggies and stir fry until the onions are golden.

Step 6 :

Then add salt and the posta paste and cook well.

Step 7 :

When you see oil is released, add the cooked basmati rice and toss well, sprinkle sugar and garam masala powder. Mix well for 3-5 minutes and turn off the flame.
