Pulao is an easy to make rice dish that is usually had for lunch or dinner.

Step 1 :

Blend coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, onion and grated coconut together.

Step 2 :

In a bowl, whisk together yogurt, garam masala, red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and keep it aside.

Step 3 :

In a cooker add oil-ghee, then add bay leaf, star anise, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and cumin seeds. Add onions and saute. Add tomato and saute till the raw fragrance disappears. Add shallow fried potatoes.

Step 4 :

Now to this, add the blended mixture and the yogurt mixture and mix well.

Step 5 :

Add the soaked rice and add 1:1.5 water and give it a mix. Add lemon juice, salt and sugar and stir. Close the lid and cook it for 2 whistles.

Step 6 :

Serve hot along with vegetable curd raita.
