Pankam / pankam is very traditional summer drink from south India . It is an ayurvedic energy drink witch sweetened naturally. Pankam is made with jaggery and some spices like dry ginger, black peppercorns and cardamom. According to Ayurveda, pankam balance three dosha; vata, kapha and pitta during summer days. Pankam is offered to lord Rama on Ram Navami.

Step 1 :

First take grated jaggery or jaggery powder in a mixing bowl.

Step 2 :

Now add 3 cups of water into the jaggery and allow it to dissolve. Strain the liquid.

Step 3 :

Now take strained liquid, add dry ginger powder into this and mix well.

Step 4 :

Then add black pepper powder and cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 5 :

Now add lemon juice and a pinch of salt into this and mix in.

Step 6 :

Now add some basil leaves into this. Panakam is ready. Pour into glasses and serve.
