Murmura Ladoo (Puffed Rice Jaggery Balls)

Loved by children, murmura ladoo is a crunchy, crispy and delicious sweet snack. It is easy to make and light on the stomach. The recipe is a healthy option as there is no oil or sugar used.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Keep two pans handy. Keep the first one on the stove.

Step 2 :

Roast the puffed rice for 1 to 2 minutes till they are crisp. Keep aside.

Step 3 :

Roast the chana dal for about 2 to 3 minutes and keep aside.

Step 4 :

Keep the second pan on the stove and add jaggery powder.

Step 5 :

Let the jaggery melt for about 4 to 5 minutes to form a thick syrup. The thickness can be checked by putting a couple of drops of jaggery syrup on water. If the syrup doesn't dissolve, it is ready.

Step 6 :

Mix the roasted puffed rice and chana dal in a bowl.

Step 7 :

Add cardamom powder to the roasted puffed rice mixture and mix well.

Step 8 :

Slowly add the jaggery syrup (while it’s still hot) little by little to the puffed rice mixture.

Step 9 :

Rub a little cooking oil to both palms.

Step 10 :

Remove the puffed rice mixture with jaggery syrup lump by lump and roll it into ladoos. This has to be done while the syrup is still hot because if it cools down, it will be difficult to roll.

Step 11 :

After rolling the puffed rice mixture into ladoos, serve them to children in colourful plates for a delightful savouring.
