Mirchi Pakoda with Paneer Stuffing

Spicy green chillies filled with masala paneer and deep-fried to crispy perfection—a fiery treat for snack-time thrills.

Method

Step 1 :

Grate paneer, peel and mash the potatoes. Add finely chopped green chillies, ginger, amchur, red chilli powder, turmeric, cumin seeds, garam masala, chopped coriander leaves, salt and mix well.

Step 2 :

Take a bowl and add gram flour and rice flour, baking soda, cumin seeds, carrom seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida and salt and mix well.

Step 3 :

Pour water little at a time to make a fairly thick paste. Whisk the paste well to remove any lumps. Heat oil in a deep pan on medium flame.

Step 4 :

Cut the chillies in 2 equal-sized pieces. Slit on one side carefully and remove the seeds and membranes, taking care not to break the chillies.

Step 5 :

Carefully stuff the green chilli with the spiced paneer and potato mixture.

Step 6 :

Once the chillies are stuffed, dip them in the spice besan paste. Make sure the chillies are coated well with the paste on all sides.

Step 7 :

Gently drop the chillies in oil and fry them in batches of 3 pakodas at a time, until they are golden brown and crisp.

Step 8 :

Remove with a slotted spoon from the oil and drain well.

Step 9 :

Transfer on a plate lined with kitchen towel to remove excess oil.

Step 10 :

Serve with tomato ketchup or chutney.
