Jackfruit Jalar Murthaba

Jaalar Murthaba, a soft and tasty Malaysian net pancake traditionally served plain or stuffed, is given a fruity twist today with the addition of jackfruit.

Method:

Step 1 :

In a bowl, add egg, coconut milk, turmeric powder if using and salt, all-purpose flour and water. Mix into a smooth batter without any lumps. The batter should not be too thick, it should have a flowing consistency. To adjust the consistency, add water. Strain the mixed batter without any lumps and then pour it into the Jalar mould.

Step 2 :

Add coconut oil to a pan and when hot, fry the chopped nuts until golden brown. Then add chopped jackfruit and grated coconut and fry for a while. Once the jackfruit is cooked well, add the sugar and for a while. Then cover and let it simmer. The jackfruit sweet stuffing is ready.

Step 3 :

Heat another non-stick flat pan over medium heat. Hold the moulds in the hot pan and rotate them moulds to create a web shape. After pouring the batter into the web shape, when the bottom of the roti jala turns golden and the top is well-cooked, remove it from the pan and place it on a plate. Place the jackfruit sweet mixture that we have already made in the middle of the jala roti and fold both sides into a spiral shape.

Step 4 :

Delicious jackfruit roti jalar is ready.
