Doi Maach is a classic Bengali dish made with freshwater fish and a flavorful curd-based gravy.

Bengali Doi Maach

Step 1 :

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the curd gently, now add all the ingredients except the fish and green chillies into the curd. Mix everything well and get a smooth thick paste.

Step 2 :

Take the piece of fish dip them into the curd preparation, and coat each piece well. Leave the fish to marinate for around 45 minutes.

Step 3 :

Add a little bit of water to make the gravy thinner.

Step 4 :

In a saucepan, add some mustard oil and transfer the marinated fish and curd mixture into it.

Step 5 :

Add the slit green chillies and cook the gravy on low flame for 15 minutes.

Step 6 :

Increase the flame for the final 2 minutes, then remove from the plate.

Step 7 :

Transfer the Doi Maach to a serving plate and serve with steaming hot rice.
