Sweet & Sour Dahi Bhalla

Dahi Bhalla is made with multi-grain bread, whereas urad dal is substituted with bread, resulting in a crispy outer layer with softness inside.

Cooking Steps

Sweet N Sour Dahi Valla

Step 1 :

Beat the curd and mix in it a pinch of black salt and half of jaggery. Keep some plain curd separately.

Step 2 :

Wash the coriander leaves and paste it with salt and a green chilli.

Step 3 :

Dip each slice of bread quickly in cold water, take it out, press gently on the palm and make a ball of it, after mixing there are a few coriander leaves, a bit of salt and asafoetida.

Step 4 :

Make a pulp of tamarind jaggery with roasted spice powder and black salt.

Step 5 :

Heat enough oil for deep frying, lower the heat, fry each bread ball until it becomes golden in colour and crispy outside, and release each ball on a paper tissue.

Step 6 :

Platter each ball over the curd mixture.

Step 7 :

Pour some more curd mixture from all over. Finally, spread plain curd on top of each valla, topping with a sprinkle of roasted spice (keep a little aside at the beginning) and green chutney.

Step 8 :

Enjoy healthy multigrain bread dahi valla at home

Step 9 :

You can well stuff the dahi valla with the dried fruits of your choice. I like to do it with small bits of dates, and almonds.
