Matar Ka Nimona is a North Indian speciality that celebrates the vibrant flavour of green peas. This delightful curry is prepared with fresh peas and a medley of aromatic spices, creating a mouthwatering vegetarian dish that's both easy to make and a treat for the taste buds. It's a perfect addition to your Indian cuisine repertoire.

Cooking Steps

Matar ka Nimona

Step 1 :

Grind together 400 gms of frozen green peas, and 2 green chillies into a coarse paste.

Step 2 :

Heat 2 tbsps oil in a pan; add 1 bay leaf, a pinch of asafoetida & sauté. Add ½ inch chopped ginger & 1 large chopped onion & sauté till they turn golden brown.

Step 3 :

Add ¼ cup tomato puree & cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1 tsp each of coriander powder, cumin powder & turmeric powder, ¼ tsp pepper powder, ¼ tsp garam masala powder stir well & sauté for 2 minutes.

Step 4 :

Add the ground peas & stir well. Add 1 cup water & salt to taste. Stir, cover, reduce heat & cook for 8 to 10 minutes.

Step 5 :

Garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot.
