Juicy Khatta Meetha Jackfruit-Drumstick Pickle

A grandmother's recipe for khatta-meetha pickle that stores for two-three months.

Jackfruit-Drumstick Pickle

Step 1 :

Cut and peel drumsticks into 1 inch pieces. Cut jackfruit into cubes. Wash the tamarind and remove seed (if any).

Step 2 :

Boil jackfruit to medium consistency. Roast and grind spices.

Step 3 :

Heat oil and add bay leaves and sabot red chilli.

Step 4 :

Add jackfruit and drumstick to the pan and sauté them.

Step 5 :

Add turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt. Fry for few seconds.

Step 6 :

Reduce the flame and cover for 30 seconds.

Step 7 :

Add jaggery and tamarind. Fry the mixture till it has a medium thick consistency.

Step 8 :

Add ground spices and cook well.

Step 9 :

Set aside to cool in a glass jar.

Step 10 :

Keep the jar in the sun at times to help with preservation.
