This recipe is famous in Maharashtra. It is easy to make and healthy as well. You can have it as a starter or for snacks.

Step 1 :

Wash and soak chana dal in water for about 2 hours.

Step 2 :

Mix 1/2 tsp each salt and chilli powder and ajwain seeds in wheat flour and knead it into a soft dough.

Step 3 :

Grind chana dal without adding any water into a coarse paste.

Step 4 :

Add 1 tsp each salt, red chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric, sesame seeds and coconut powder.

Step 5 :

Add washed curry leaves to it.

Step 6 :

Divide the chapati dough into 3 balls and roll it into thick a thick chapati, divide the dal mixture into 3 balls and put a thick layer of ground dal on the chapati and roll it into cylinders.

Step 7 :

Steam these rolls like a dhokala for about 15 minutes.

Step 8 :

Cool it down to room temperature and cut into 1/2 cm slices.

Step 9 :

Fry it in hot oil over medium heat and serve it with any dip, sauce or chutney. A dip made of hung curd and mayo will go well with it.
