Gur Rice or Jaggery Rice is a traditional dish that is prepared in India, during festive days like Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.

Cooking Steps

Step 1 :

Wash and soak rice in a utensil for about 15 minutes.

Step 2 :

Chop the dry coconut and almonds and keep aside.

Step 3 :

In a pan, add 4 bowls water, add jaggery and let it boil till the jaggery completely dissolves in the water. Keep it aside.

Step 4 :

In a pressure cooker, add 1 tbsp olive oil and let it heat.

Step 5 :

Add cardamom, transfer the soaked rice and then gently add the jaggery water to it.

Step 6 :

Add chopped coconut, almonds and raisins.

Step 7 :

Add cardamom powder in it and let it boil.

Step 8 :

After one boil, cover it with a lid and wait for 2 whistles.

Step 9 :

Switch off the flame and let it rest.

Step 10 :

Open the lid and check it. The water absorption will depend on the water quality. When fully cooked, serve it in a bowl and garnished with coconut pieces and almonds.
