Coconut Barfi

Coconut Barfi is made with grated fresh coconut and condensed milk and it has the melt in the mouth texture. It is usually made on Raksha Bandhan.

Cooking Steps

Step 1 :

Heat ghee in a pan, add freshly grated coconut and saute it for 2-3 minutes.

Step 2 :

Now, add condensed milk and cook on low flame, stirring occasionally.

Step 3 :

Add cardamom powder and continue to cook on low flame till the mixture thickens and ghee starts releasing from the sides. It will take around 20-25 minutes.

Step 4 :

Once the mixture thickens, transfer it to a greased tray and let it cool down to room temperature.

Step 5 :

Once it is cool, press it gently to make a layer of 1/2 to 1 inch thickness and cut it onto diamond shapes and serve. Garnish it with chopped cashew nuts.
