Panchakajjaya is a traditional Indian sweet dish prepared using moong dal, jaggery and grated coconut.

Step 1 :

In a pan, add 2 tsp of ghee and roast moong dal and poppy seeds till it turns golden brown.

Step 2 :

Add in sesame seeds and saute till it releases a flavorful aroma.

Step 3 :

Keep aside and allow it to cool down and blend it into a coarse powder.

Step 4 :

In a pan, add jaggery, grated coconut and cardamom powder. Keep stirring to obtain a stringy substance, you can fill it between your fingers to get an idea of the texture.

Step 5 :

Add the above mixture evenly into the jaggery paste and add ghee as per proportions.

Step 6 :

Keep stirring till the ghee has been absorbed by the mixture.

Step 7 :

Take it out from the pan and make small balls if needed. Serve it fresh.
