Modak is usually prepared during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi in India. It is a sweet that is distributed among neighbours and friends.

Cooking Steps

Step 1 : For the dough

Mix wheat flour and maida with required amount of water to make a tight dough. Let it rest it for 20 minutes.

Step 2 : For the stuffing

In a pan, shallow fry coconut, rava and sugar in ghee till the sugar mixture melts.

Step 3 :

Take the dough out. Roll it into small thick sheets.

Step 4 :

Place the stuffing at the center and twist it so that the stuffing doesn’t come out.

Step 5 :

Deep fry the modak till it turns golden brown. Take it out from the pan and serve fresh. You can use tissue paper to absorb excess oil from the Modak.
