Keerai Masiyal recipe is a one of the popular spinach recipes in Tamil Nadu, it is prepared with simple ingredients.

Step 1 :

Pick the spinach leaves from the bunch and wash them thoroughly.

Step 2 :

Add the leaves in a pressure cooker. Add moong dal to it along with 1/4 cup water and pressure cook it for 4 whistles.

Step 3 :

Once the pressure settles, open the cooker and mash the greens well. Let it cool.

Step 4 :

Add the cooked mixture in a blender and blend it into a coarse paste.

Step 5 :

Season with salt and mix well.

Step 6 :

Heat ghee in a small pan. Add urad dal, cumin seeds and dried red chilies. Saute it till aromatic.

Step 7 :

Add to the prepared spinach mixture and mix well. Serve it hot with rice.
