A very delicious and healthy snack that can be enjoyed as both - a starter or a main course.

Cooking Steps

Step 1 :

Soak the chickpeas in cold water overnight, or best for 24 hours. They will double in size. Do not boil.

Step 2 :

Drain the chickpeas water and in a mixer, add the chickpeas with all the spices and coriander leaves, garlic and onion and grind.

Step 3 :

Keep opening the mixer and scraping the mixture together and repeating. This whole process will take about 10-15 minutes depending on your mixer. Do not add water. The mixture will grind to a coarse paste and will be greenish in colour.

Step 4 :

Take out the chickpea mixture and transfer it to a bowl. Add besan to help the chickpea mixture bind together. Add more if needed.

Step 5 :

Heat oil in a pan and make small balls, out of the mixture.

Step 6 :

When the oil is hot, drop in 4-6 balls at a time and deep fry till golden brown. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Drain and serve with hummus and pita bread.
