Step 1 :
Pre-heat the oven at 150° C for 10 minutes. Grease the cake mould at all sides and keep it aside.
Step 2 :
In a small bowl, sift maida, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda.
Step 3 :
In a large bowl, add sugar and oil and whisk gently till it becomes soft and fluffy or changes colour.
Step 4 :
Once it turns soft, add vanilla essence and milk and whisk again. Don’t add milk in one go, add it in small portions as needed.
Step 5 :
Add in batches the dry ingredients and whisk again. Finally, using a spatula, scrape off the sides and edges and fold the mixture properly.
Step 6 :
Pour the batter into the cake mould till half.
Step 7 :
Place a large chocolate piece in the middle of the batter and seal the top, with a spoon of batter again.
Step 8 :
Place the mould in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes at 170° C.
Step 9 :
Take the mould out of the oven and shift some icing sugar over the top for a nice texture.
Step 10 :
Serve it hot with a scoop of ice-cream, a dollop of whipped cream or simply enjoy the hot lava cake.
