Beetroot Dal Masala is a very tasty and healthy dish. This can be had for lunch and dinner with chapati or rice.

Step 1 :

Soak the black urad dal over night.

Step 2 :

Boil the urad dal in pressure cooker with sufficient water for 2-3 whistles. Once done, drain the excess water.

Step 3 :

Chop onion, garlic and tomato in small pieces.

Step 4 :

Dice beetroot in small pieces and boil it for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5 :

Take a pan, heat oil in it. Add mustard seeds once done.

Step 6 :

After it starts to splutter, add onion, garlic and tomato to it.

Step 7 :

Saute it until the tomato turns into a puree like texture. Ensure the onions are well cooked.

Step 8 :

Add boiled pieces of beetroot, black urad dal and a little water.

Step 9 :

Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and coconut.

Step 10 :

Allow it to cook for the next 15-20 minutes.
