Sweet Potato Gulab Jamun

This dish is a healthy twist to the regular gulab jamuns.

Step 1 :

Soak raisins in water.

Step 2 :

Boil the sweet potatoes and mash it.

Step 3 :

Warm ghee in a kadai, add the mashed potatoes and saute it a little.

Step 4 :

When it starts to change color, add khova, elachi powder, grated almonds, cashew nuts and mix it.

Step 5 :

Keep stirring and turn off flame.

Step 6 :

Transfer it into a plate and then let it cool down a bit.

Step 7 :

Apply some ghee on palms and then make balls from the mixture and in the middle of each ball, place 1 raisin.

Step 8 :

Again in a kadai heat ghee and deep fry these balls. Take them out on a paper napkin.

Step 9 :

For the sugar syrup, take water and add sugar. Bring it to a boil. Sieve the syrup and add few strands of saffron.

Step 10 :

Now, put all the sweet potato gulab jamuns in the sugar syrup for at least 10 minutes.

Step 11 :

Serve it hot.
