Masala Chai is preferred during winters. Many homes in India have this chai during tea time when bored with the usual tea.

Step 1 :

Heat a pan on the stove, dry roast the all the spices - cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and star anise.

Step 2 :

Once done, take a mixer and grind the spices together to make the masala powder.

Step 3 :

In a wok, add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil, add tea leaves, milk and sugar, along with 1 tbsp masala powder.

Step 4 :

Stir it well, while bringing it to a boil on low heat.

Step 5 :

Serve hot with some pakoras or tea-time snacks.
