Preparation

Step 1 :

Sieve the maida, baking powder, cooking soda and salt. Keep it aside.

Step 2 :

In a pan, add the ingredients for making the caramel. Melt it on a low flame until you get a golden-brown syrup.

Step 3 :

Pour this caramel syrup into a greased baking tin and tilt it so that the syrup spreads evenly across the tin.

Step 4 :

Arrange the pineapple slices and cherries.

Step 5 :

Whip the condensed milk, butter and essence together.

Step 6 :

Slowly add in the maida mixture and chilled soda alternatively.

Step 7 :

Mix well to make sure there are no lumps.

Step 8 :

Pour this mixture over the slices of fruit and bake in a preheated oven at 180-degree Centigrade for 45 minutes.
