Quinoa Dhokla

Dhokla, also known as Khaman dhokla, is a fluffy and spicy traditional Gujarati dish. It is popular dish and can be eaten for breakfast, main course, as a side dish or just as a snack.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Soak the moong dal, oats and quinoa together for a couple of hours. Drain.

Step 2 :

Grind the soaked mixture along with the green chilies, ginger, and yogurt to a smooth paste, adding some water if necessary.

Step 3 :

Add salt, sugar, and turmeric.

Step 4 :

Grease the steaming plates and heat water in the steamer.

Step 5 :

Just when your steamer is ready, add Eno and gently mix.

Step 6 :

Pour batter in the prepared plates and steam for about 15 minutes.

Step 7 :

To prepare the seasoning, heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard and cumin seeds.

Step 8 :

When mustard seeds sputter, add hing, green chilies, sesame seeds and curry leaves.

Step 9 :

When the green chilies are slightly seared, add ¼ cup of water along with the sugar. Bring to boil and turn off. Add lemon juice.

Step 10 :

Pour this over the dhoklas.
