Baked Cheese Crisps with Salsa

Baked cheese crisps are somewhat a better snacking option for fitness freaks than normal cheese crisps, that are fried heavily and as a result, contain more calories. They are also a favourable snack for vegetarians. These crisps can be used as a delicious substitute for breadcrumbs in soups, nachos and other fried snacks. I used two different flavours for the crisps - Oregano and Chili flakes. The salsa is a refreshing, light accompaniment to the comparatively heavy cheese crisps and competes the dish.

Step 1 :

Take a large mixing bowl. Mix all the ingredients together properly. Add some salt, squeeze half of a lemon and mix the juice well into it.

Step 2 :

Serve cold and fresh with baked cheese crisps.

Baked Cheese Crisps

Step 1 :

For 1 crisp, you require half of a Kraft cheese cube. Shred the half cheese cube finely and place it evenly in a small bowl (fit for microwave heating).

Step 2 :

Sprinkle the shredded cheese with 1/2 teaspoon of oregano seasoning or chili flakes (depends on which flavour you pick).

Step 3 :

Add half a teaspoon of butter into the bowl. Do not mix. Crush a few plain potato chips with your hands and sprinkle it on the cheese.

Step 4 :

Switch on your microwave, put it on convection mode at 110°C. You can put 2 small bowls each time and let it bake for 1 minute maximum (exceeding the time limit may result in burning your crisp).

Step 5 :

After 1 minute, take the bowls out. Do not touch your crisp as it's going to be very hot and a bit soft. Let it cool for about half a minute, which will help it to reach the right texture.

Step 6 :

Carefully use a knife and scrape through the edges of the bottom of the bowl where your crisp has solidified. Do not cut through the crisp.

Step 7 :

Slowly raise your crisp from the bowl with the knife and put in on a plate. Repeat the entire process for all your crisps.

Step 8 :

To plate your crisps, you may use fresh coriander leaves as a garnish or some extra sprinkles of oregano seasoning or chili flakes. Your baked cheese crisps with salsa is ready to serve! Enjoy!
