Kancheepuram Idli! ( Spicy Idly)

This is one of the best Prasadams in Kanchi Varadharajar Kovil. They used to prepare it with Mandarai leaves (a kind of tree leaves). In olden days, my grandmother and mother used to make the idlis in small cups or small tumblers. Now you can use the idly plates instead.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Take Fresho Dosa batter in a vessel.

Step 2 :

Add crushed black pepper, asafoetida powder, crushed cumin seeds, curry leaves and powdered ginger(suku). Add salt. Mix well.

Step 3 :

Add one spoon liquid ghee and oil and mix well again.

Step 4 :

Start preparing idly as usual.

Step 5 :

Remove from the idly plates and serve hot or warm.

Step 6 :

No need for side dishes. If you wish, you can have curd as side dish.
