This dal dish is high on protein and ideal for everyday consumption. The tamarind paste and seasonings delight your taste buds with the perfect punch of tanginess. Serve with roti or rice.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Put the washed red lentils in a pressure cooker and add tomatoes, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, coriander leaves and cook for 3 whistles.

Step 2 :

Open the pressure cooker and smash the dal till it gets smooth.

Step 3 :

Add tamarind paste, few curry leaves with water till the consistency is a thick liquid and boil for few minutes.

Step 4 :

Take a pan, add oil and let it heat up a bit. Add curry leaves, red chilli, cumin seeds and stir till it gets light brown in colour. Then add this to the dal.

Step 5 : Serve with

Your khatti dal is ready serve with roti or rice.
