A sweet and salty egg tart that hits all the right notes!

Cooking Steps

Egg and Yam Portuguese Tartlets

Step 1 :

Mix the cold flour with frozen, grated butter to form a pie dough.

Step 2 :

Push the dough into tartlet tins to shape them.

Step 3 :

Bake the dough for 7 mins at 150° C.

Step 4 :

Boil the yams in water until cooked.

Step 5 :

Take the yams out and mash them with butter, salt, and pepper. Keep it aside.

Step 6 :

In another bowl, mix the yolks with condensed milk, heavy cream, salt and paprika.

Step 7 :

Now take out the tartlet dough, put a layer of mashed yam, spread some cheddar cheese and cover the tart with the egg mixture.

Step 8 :

Bake it for 20 mins at 180° C or till golden brown.

Step 9 :

Cool them at room temperature and then refrigerate. Enjoy cold.
