Gujarati Lapsi

Lapsi is a traditional gujarati sweet dish made from broken wheat(dalia). Its made for many festivals as prasad for the neiveidyam. This lapsi recipe is using the pressure cooker & a simple one to make it really quick.

Step 1 :

Heat the water and add jaggery to it. After the jaggery dissolves fully, strain the mixture to remove any impurities.

Step 2 :

Heat the ghee in a small cooker. Add daliya and roast till it turns golden brown.

Step 3 :

Now add the jaggery syrup to it (You can use part milk also instead of water by reducing the quantity of water at teh jaggery dissolving stage and making up the volume with milk at this stage. But be careful to add the jaggery syrup and milk separately. Do not mix the 2 before this stage).

Step 4 :

Pressure cook at low flame for 4 to 5 whistles. Once the pressure has released, stir in the cardamom powder and garnish with the slivered almonds.
