A traditional Bengali dish of fermented rice, lightly seasoned with mustard oil, chillies, and fresh onions, perfect for a cooling meal.

Cooking Steps

Panta Bhat

Step 1 :

Take the cooked rice in a large bowl and add cool water till a little above the level of the rice. Cover it. Let it soak and ferment overnight.

Step 2 :

Post fermentation, take a small kadai and heat the mustard oil. Add mustard seeds and let iut pop. Then add the red chilli and fry till light brown.

Step 3 :

Take the serving bowl and pour a portion of the fermented rice with the water into it. Sprinkle salt and mix.

Step 4 :

Then add in the onion slices, the fried mustard seeds and chilli with oil and mix again.

Step 5 :

Serve it with the lemon slices.
