Urad Daal Kachori

This is a traditional Indian kachori, packed with taste and the goodness of urad dal.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Take wheat flour, add salt to taste and knead the dough adding appropriate amount of water. Cover it with cloth for 20 minutes.

Step 2 :

Soak urad dal for a minimum of 5 hours before using it. Grind the urad dal unevenly to avoid a paste like consistency.

Step 3 :

In a pan, take 2 tablespoons of oil, add 2 finely chopped onion and cook till its colour changes to pink. Add grinded dal, amchur powder, salt, crushed garlic, 1 clove, crushed green chillies (4 to 5) and a little piece of crushed ginger. Add chopped coriander leaves for flavour.

Step 4 :

Make a thick, round and tiny chapatti. Make a ball of urad dal stuffing. Place the ball inside the tiny chapatti. Bring the edges together and seal the kachori.

Step 5 :

Fry the kachori on a medium flame and then high flame to get it puffed.

Step 6 :

Sprinkle sev and coriander leaves on it and serve with tamarind or coriander chutney.
