This product from brand ‘McVities’ under its ‘Dark Cookie Cream’ range of products contains dark cocoa-based cookies in ‘Orange Cream’ variant. The list of ingredients mentions cocoa solids (3.5%), orange powder (0.1%), and ascorbic acid (L) (INS 300) among other ingredients. The cookies have been accurately depicted on the packaging. The pack I received contained approximately 12-13 cookies in total. The cookies can be described as crispy, with a moderate ‘crunch’ to them in terms of texture. They are not hard on one’s teeth. Upon taste, one feels a ‘candied orange’ flavour as found in confectionery items, albeit ‘toned down’ by the presence of coconut as one of the natural (nature identical and artificial flavouring substances) mentioned under the list of ingredients. The ‘coconut’ is noticeable, but not off-putting. It goes well with the orange and cocoa flavours. Generally, ‘orange cream’ biscuits or cookies available for purchase in India have a butter or vanilla-based biscuit/cookie base. Here, the base being cocoa-based does make a difference. It is not the same as consuming actual chocolate, but does lend a pleasant mouthfeel and aftertaste. Overall, these cookies are worth trying out.
