This product from brand ‘Ritebite’ under its ‘Max Protein’ range is a bar containing protein blend atop a dark chocolate compound base. The protein blend is a mix of soy nuggets, whey protein concentrate, and calcium caseinate. It also includes grains such as rolled oats, and has certain vitamins and minerals added in small quantities. The dark chocolate compound base is flavoured with cranberries and strawberry preserve, and has no added sugar. The protein blend is chewy yet crunchy. The flavour of cranberries is dominant. The dark chocolate compound has a bitter aftertaste, which does not blend well with the other components of the bar. The bar also contains oligosacharides and maltitol, which can cause digestive distress and laxative effects respectively if consumed in excess. Hence, the bar must be consumed with caution. According to the label on the package, It can be had in-between meals, with a maximum of 2 servings per day. Obviously, such products must not be ideally consumed without consultation with a registered medical practitioner and/or dietician. Overall, this bar may be tried out, but one must not expect a fruity-chocolatey experience from it.
